Stan Hywet Hall & Garden’s president and executive director, Linda Conrad, will step down from her post in October and retire from the Akron organization in February.

Before joining Stan Hywet in 2009, she was general manager of retail and attractions for the Coca-Cola Co., guiding the development of New World of Coca-Cola in downtown Atlanta.

Board Chairman Brian Cherkala said when Conrad steps down Oct. 31, Sean Joyce will become interim president and executive director. He has been the CFO and vice president of operations for the past seven years.

Under Conrad’s direction, “the estate has experienced a dramatic transformation financially, strategically and culturally, and is well positioned to continue to prosper,” Cherkala said, noting that last year, USA Today named Stan Hywet the No. 1 Historic Home Tour in America.

Conrad complimented her staff and the board.

“Knowing the estate is in great shape and that it will remain in excellent hands was a key factor in my decision to retire now,” she said. “My husband and I will begin the next chapter in our lives with a move to Florida next spring.”
