A staff member of Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools is under investigation for “inappropriate communications” with students, according to an email sent to parents Thursday afternoon by Superintendent Tom Bratten.

The message sent to parents of Stow-Munroe Falls High School and Kimpton Middle School students stated that the communications occurred “with one or more of our students.” The staff member was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, Bratten said.

No additional details were offered because of privacy constraints, he added.

But Bratten did conclude the message with a sentence that implied it may have concerned someone involved with the schools’ bands.

“It is my belief that our band, our band students, our band community and our community as a whole are the best in the state of Ohio and we will continue to remain that way,” he said.

Bratten said the district would follow board policies and procedures “to protect those involved.”

“At the conclusion of the investigation, we will take the appropriate course of action and communicate those actions to you,” he said in the email.
