An Akron man wanted for robbery and a Springfield Township man accused of raping a child were arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Larry W. Johnson, 54, was wanted by Springfield police on a warrant for rape, gross sexual imposition and importuning. He was arrested at a home in Barberton. He is accused of molesting a child under 13 years of age between 2007 and 2009.
Steven Young, 24, was wanted by Akron police on aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery charges. He was sought for his alleged role in an April 9 home invasion on Lake Street in which gunmen took cash, jewelry, keys to the home and the resident’s car.
Young was found at a home on Becker Lane in Akron. Task force officers also seized a semiautomatic 9 mm pistol and a stolen 5.56-caliber rifle loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition.
Anthony Shellman, 28, a second suspect in the home invasion, remains on the lam, authorities said. He was added this week to the task force’s “Dangerous Dozen” list.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the task force at 1-866-4-WANTED or text keyword WANTED and the tip to 847411. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
