There are several reasons to celebrate summer in Northeast Ohio starting with two local summer events that will be starting on Saturday.
The Massillon farmer's market will begin this weekend and run each Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.
The market offers fresh flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables and baked goods. The market is located in the Massillon Recreation parking lot at 505 Erie Street N.W. in Massillon.
If you would like more information, please contact Erin Dolan at 330-832-1621 or www.massillonparks.com.
The farmer's market will continue throughout the summer and will end on October 5.
Canal Fulton will host summer canal boat rides starting this weekend as well.
The St. Helena III canal boat and horses are owned by the Canal Fulton Heritage Society and operated by the city of Canal Fulton. The boat is pulled by two horses.
The boat runs each day and departs from the Port of Canal Fulton in St. Helena Heritage Park. The ride is one hour long and includes a summation of the canal's history by a historian.
Ticket prices are to be announced. The park is located at 125 Tuscarawas St. N.W. in Canal Fulton.
