LAKE TWP.: A Uniontown police sergeant who was shot four times last year responding to a domestic violence call is retiring, the Canton Repository reports.

Township trustees agreed this week to buy six years of Ohio Public Employees Retirement System credit and four years of military service credit to allow Sgt. David White, 60, to retire, the newspaper said.

On July 9, White was shot four times, including once in the abdomen and once in the forearm, while responding to a domestic violence call on Lela Avenue NW. The suspect, Ryan Allen Probst, 28, was killed at the scene.

White has still been recovering from his injuries.
