CUYAHOGA FALLS: The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was discovered by hikers Monday afternoon in the Gorge Metro Park and determined that he died from blunt-force trauma to the chest.

Daniel Short, a 51, of 18th Street in Cuyahoga Falls, was discovered lying on rocks approximately 40 feet below the walking trail at 4:45 p.m., spokesman Gary Guenther said.

The Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department responded to the scene, where Short was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m.

The manner of death is pending further testing and investigation.

An autopsy has been completed, Guenther said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

The medical examiner’s office and Cuyahoga Falls police are continuing their investigation.
