GREEN: Authorities have released the name of the Barberton man whose body was found in the Nimisila Reservoir on Wednesday evening.

Michael R. Schake, 53, was positively identified Thursday morning and his family has been notified, according to Gary Guenther, spokesman for the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A cause and manner of death has not been released.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the site of the drowning, near Christman Road, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday with a report that a man had fallen out of a boat while he was fishing in the reservoir. A sheriff’s spokesman said three other people were on the water nearby and at least two attempted to help rescue Schake.

The Summit County Dive Team, made up of firefighters from Akron, New Franklin, Green and Coventry fire departments, also was dispatched to the scene, along with watercraft from the sheriff’s office and the Ohio Division of Natural Resources.

Schake’s body was recovered about 10:20 p.m.
