Appointments for help with Medicare and Medicare Part D programs are being taken at the Wadsworth Center for Older Adults, 138 High St.

Volunteers trained by the Ohio Department of Insurance through the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program are available for appointments from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Appointments will be taken through Dec. 6 since the final day for Medicare enrollment is Dec. 7. Call the center at 330-335-1513 to make an appointment.

During the appointment, the volunteers will answer questions and provide information about the programs, such as which ones are available and which ones may be best suited for you. Also, for those who need to register to enroll in the Medicare program for the first time, help will be available.

In addition, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 4, Medicare Check Up Day will be held at the center. Medicare Check Up Day is a free service that teaches people about recent changes to Medicare and how to enroll in a Medicare prescription drug plan or a Medicare health plan for 2013 coverage.

In order to compare plans, which are available for 2013, bring a list of the prescription drugs you use.
