Six hundred people gathered in Downtown Canton on Thursday evening to sample fine food and beverages at Vintage Canton. Julie Gill chaired the event, sponsored by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Vice President Joanne Murray was glad the weatherman cooperated with a beautiful summer evening for guests to enjoy the outdoor event.
Linda and Roy Heinzer recommended the sesame salmon cakes with Asian slaw, prepared by Chef Cameron Krahel of the Canal Tavern of Zoar.
“My Dad has been a winemaker for years,” said Mitch Garver. “Then two years ago my parents bought the historic flour mill for our Baltic Mill Winery,” Garver said as he and Taylor Dunlap poured samples of dry and sweet wine.
Funds raised at Vintage Canton will be used for downtown events, according to Chris Gumpp, director of community events and sponsorships.
Friends Kim Musilly, Diane Huffman and Carol Popovich come to the event every year to sample Raven’s Glenn Wine, poured by Josh Dean.
Penny Mason offered crab cakes and scallops from Bender’s, along with Bender’s famous tomato salad. Judy DeMarco of Gervasi Vineyards teamed up with Nicole Hagy of Harry London Chocolates to show how well wine goes with London’s delicious chocolates; and Franny Buell and Patty Shaff served donuts from Peace, Love and Little Donuts for dessert.
