AleFest Columbus a beer-tasting event held each year in early February at the Aladdin Shrine Center has been postponed indefinitely.

Organizer Joe Waizmann confirmed that hes been so busy launching Warped Wing Brewing Co., a new 30-barrel production brewery and tasting room in Dayton, that he hasnt been able to focus on what would be the ninth annual AleFest Columbus. That event originally had been slated to take place Saturday (Feb. 1).

Im in hugely uncharted waters, Waizmann said. My intent is to do it.

He said he hopes to announce an event date in the future, but admitted that he cant say with certainty that the festival will be held this year.

Meanwhile, AleFeast Dayton, which had been slated for March 1, also has been postponed. Waizmann said he wants to move forward with AleFest Columbus, AleFeast and his other event, AleFest Dayton. AleFest Dayton, which celebrated its 15th anniversary last year, is usually held in August in Carillon Historical Park.

AleFeast and AleFest Dayton will take place in some form, he pledged.

Im not abandoning my former life and Im sorting through now how Im going to manage both, he said, referring to his roles as festival organizer and brewery owner.

Waizmann added that he doesnt want to disappoint AleFest fans or damage the positive following that the events have built up over the years.
