The ninth annual Cleveland Beer Week kicks off Friday. (Oct. 13)

The celebration, which runs through Oct. 22, features hundreds of special tastings, beer pairings and educational events throughout the Cleveland region. It also raises money for the Jimmy Malone Scholarship Program.

Here are a few flagship events:

• Collaboration brews: Thirty-local breweries got together and made seven small-batch collaboration IPAs. People can pay $25 and do a bar crawl in five separate neighborhoods to taste them all. The bar crawl begins at 7 p.m. Friday. (Oct. 13) Full details: click here.

• Culture Yourself: A cheese and beer pairing at Great Lakes Brewing Co. from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 17. The event will feature beer from 3 Floyds, Alaskan, Ballast Point, Bell's, Breckenridge, BrewDog, Dogfish Head, Fat Head's, Founders, Goose Island, Great Lakes, MadTree, Market Garden, Platform and Rhinegeist. • Deep Brew Sea: A beer tasting at the Cleveland Aquarium from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 16. The event will feature beer from Brew Kettle, DuClaw, Goldhorn, Latitude 42, Leinenkugel, Millersburg, Rivertowne, Samuel Adams, Saugatuck, White Birch and Wild Ohio. • Beer & Chocolate The Cocoa and Hops Experience: A chocolate and beer pairing at the downtown Cleveland Heinen's store from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20. The event will feature beer from Alaskan, Blue Point, Breckenridge, BrewDog, Devils Backbone, Elysian, Founders, Golden Road, Goose Island, Great Lakes, Jackie O's, Kentucky, Lagunitas, MadTree, Market Garden, Platform, Rhinegeist, Sierra Nevada, Southern Tier and Stone.
