Kevin McArthur is the co-founder and brewer at McArthur's Brew House, a nanobrewery in Cuyahoga Falls. In addition to being a brewer -- and cook now that the brewery has a small kitchen -- he also is a full-time firefighter.

Question: Why did you become a brewer?

Answer: I became a brewer because my body wasn't set up to be a porn star. Seriously though, I liked the idea of being able to create and perfect recipes and to make something we all can enjoy.

Q: It used to be commonplace but there aren't many craft breweries nowadays that are named after the brewer/owner. (R. Shea Brewing in Akron is another.) Why did you decide that your brewery would bear the family name?

A: We chose the family name for a few reasons:

-- We wanted to honor our last name and there are a lot of McArthurs out there.

-- So we wouldn't forget how to spell it.

-- If we decide to branch out, we aren't limited to one spot.

Q: You're a full-time firefighter. So, which job is more difficult and why? (And when the heck do you sleep?)

A: Being a full-time firefighter and a brewer have their challenges but are also very rewarding careers. It's amazing what you can do in 15 minutes. It's called power naps!

Q: What’s your best-selling beer and why do you think it’s so popular?

A: The Toffee Coffee Porter on nitro is our most popular beer because of the complexity of the beer added with the coffee on nitro gives it a nice creamy smooth coffee flavor.

Q: Which beer – any beer in the world – do you wish that you created/invented/brewed and why?

A: Samuel Adams Boston Lager because it's a good beer to drink anytime, anywhere with a smooth yet bitter aftertaste.
