Listermann Brewing Co. -- an award-winning Cincinnati brewery born out of a homebrew shop -- will celebrate its 10th anniversary this weekend. (Sept. 7-9)

"It's been fun," brewery founder Dan Listermann told WCPO television. "It doesn't seem like it's been that long but we've come along way."

Indeed, Listermann has come a long way from at first brewing on a two-barrel system and selling its bottled beer only from a small cooler at the homebrew shop.

Since the brewery started focusing more on its beer and opened a taproom, it's won over a legion of loyal fans for brands such as Chickow!, Nutcase Peanut Butter Porter and others, and its Cincinnati-focused beer festivals. It also has partnered with organizations such as the Cincinnati Art Museum and Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on special fundraising beers, perhaps most notably a series involving the world-famous Fiona the Hippo.

Listermann also has won awards. It took home the 2016 best of show award for its Triple Digit Chickow! aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels and the 2017 best of show runner-up award for Brandy Barrel Chickow! at the Festival of Wood & Barrel Aged Beer in Chicago.

Nutcase Peanut Butter Porter also won a bronze medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival.

The anniversary weekend includes a beer festival on Friday; an Oktoberfest-themed event on Saturday; and family-friendly activities featuring the Cincinnati Zoo on Sunday. For the full rundown of anniversary activities, click here.
