The Lodi Library, a branch of the Medina County District Library, will host a free Summertime Beer Swap at 1 p.m. Saturday. (June 30)

The swap works like this: Beer fans bring a six-pack of craft beer to share and walk out with six beers that they didn't come with.

"The goal is to just bring whatever you like and walk out hopefully with something you haven’t tried before," said Eric Lucius, who manages the library, 635 Wooster St.

It's the second time that the library will host a beer swap. Lucius stressed that people should bring craft beer, noting that an individual brought Yuengling to the first event. (While Yuengling meets the Brewers Association's definition of a craft beer, you'd be hard-pressed to argue that it's a swappable craft beer.)

The beer swap is still in its infancy so people may not find exotic or rare craft beers, Lucius said.

"We’re still pretty basic and trying to build it," he said.

Lucius plans to bring his banjo and provide some live music. Fourteen people attended the first event.
