McArthur's Brew House will celebrate its one-year anniversary Saturday (March 3) with a special steal the pint glass promotion and the debut of its new, small†kitchen.

The Cuyahoga Falls nanobrewery, located at 2721 Front St.,†will open early at 1 p.m. when the popular Toffee Coffee Porter also†will return to the beer menu.

Co-founder Abbey McArthur, whose husband Kevin is the brewer,†said Saturday will be more of a customer appreciation day than an anniversary party. She said they wanted to thank the customers for the positive feedback over the first year.

The first year went surprisingly well, she added. So well in fact that they are thinking about upgrading from their two-barrel brewing system to a five- or seven-barrel brewhouse.

"Itís hard to keep up," Abbey said. "Itís a good problem to have but itís also stressful because you can only do so much with a two-barrel system."

Given the size of their space, they also are considering the possibility of moving the beer production off-site in the future. But Abbey said they are being careful financially with their approach.

"Itís nice to not have to take out loans," she said. "Weíre really taking every penny we make and putting it back in the business. Weíre doing it slowly so we donít have to go broke."

The new kitchen will feature pizza, pretzels and beer cheese, hot dogs and chips. The McArthurs will do the cooking. They decided to add the kitchen for†a couple of reasons, including the desire to start serving wine and cider.

"We also noticed that people come in after dinner and this might encourage them to come in and eat," Abbey said. "Plus, food and beer go well together."
