Railroad Brewing Co. will celebrate its one-year anniversary March 10 with a special glass giveaway and beer release.

The first 100 guests to arrive -- the doors open at 11 a.m. -- will receive a Railroad Brewing pilsner anniversary glass and the Avon brewery will release its Bourbon Barrel Aged Blonde Experiment: B.A.B.E. the same day. There also will be live music at 3:30 p.m. with Tony Shultz and at 7 p.m. with Thor Platter.

Railroad also said that the Michele Romary Trio will perform at 7 p.m. March 9. The band performed on the brewery's opening weekend.

"Year one was an amazing adventure, a learning experience, and flash all in one," co-founder Dave Lengyel said. "We’re (Tom Wagner, Jerome Moore, Tom Culler and Lengyel) very fortunate to have amazing support from the city of Avon, our neighboring cities of Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, Westlake, Bay Village, Elyria, and all of Lorain County as a whole. We take great pride in being Lorain County’s manufacturing/distributing brewery and taking care of our area one pint, one keg and one conversation at a time."

Railroad self distributes its beer on draft and Lengyel said it has accounts locally, in Cuyahoga County and as far south as Columbus. It's trying to grow its distribution.

The brewery plans to expand its capacity by adding tanks this year. It also plans to start canning in April. Railroad also is experimenting with barrel aging and is starting to offer full dining Thursday through Saturday.

"We’ll continue to take care of what we can control: Friendliness, cleanliness and atmosphere," Lengyel said.
