Rhinegeist Brewery is launching a new beer school with a super long name.

Take a breath before reading this title -- Brewcademy: The Rhinegeist Brewery Beer School for People Who Want to Learn About Good Beer and Other Things Too.

Or just Brewcademy for short.

The program, held at the Cincinnati brewery,†involves quarterly, themed†classes taught by Rhinegeist Director of Education Chris Shields. The first class runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday (March 1) and will focus on English beers.

Shields will provide a history about British and Scottish beers, share some tasting tips on styles and provide six beers for the class to sample. The beers will likely include an English IPA, mild, bitter, porter, Scottish ale and brown ale. Rhinegeist didn't want to let the cat out of the bag in advance about which specific brands would be sampled, but††stressed†that the class isn't about promoting its own beers.

"We really want it to be blend of an actual educational experience and fun," marketing manager Katie Aslip said. "We donít want to take ourselves too seriously."

Each class will be a standalone experience, meaning you don't have to attend all four. For example, the second class will focus on German beers. The brewery hasn't announced dates for the other three classes yet.

"Iím moving from nervous and stressed to excited," Shields said. "Itís going to be a pretty cool experience and fun for me."

Seating is limited to 50 people. Tickets are $45, which Rhinegeist notes comes with a "scholarly sample glass (to be filled with†six tastings), a notebook, a writing utensil and a class patch."
