Calling all dogs. Zaftig Brewing Co. is hosting a doggie beauty pageant, with all proceeds benefiting the MidOhio Habit for Humanity's new The House that Beer Built project.

The "Dog Days Done Gone Dog Pageant" will be held Sept. 29 at the Worthington brewery, with the judging getting under way at 3 p.m. The deadline to register dogs is 2:30 p.m. the day of the event or by clicking here.

The cost to enter a dog is $10, while it's free to attend and watch the event. Dogs will be judged in three categories:

Most unusual: Judges are looking for the most unusual looking, unusual story, unusual breed/mix, unusual talent, unusual markings ...

Best Costume: Dogs are welcome to come dressed up.

Best in Show: Judges will examine pooches based on physique, trotting and teeth just like a traditional dog show.

The most unusual and best costume category winners will receive a $25 Zaftig gift certificate and Growler Dog bones. The best in show winner will receive a $50 gift certificate and be featured in Zaftig social media campaigns.

Habitat for Humanity has recruited the help of local breweries to raise money to build a home in the summer of 2019. In addition to the dog pageant, Zaftig plans to host several other events to support the effort.
