California Gov. Jerry Brown may turn out to be friendly toward developing the state's vast shale reserves, reports Platts. Democrat Brown at a recent event kept making pro-oil statements, John Kingston wrote.

Platts: "The remarks come at a time when it seems an increasing number of people are speaking of the state’s Monterey Shale as being up there in reserves on par with the Bakken and the Eagle Ford.  A recent study led by the University of Southern California spoke of the job creation and tax revenue possibilities of the Monterey.
