Cedar Point has promised that the Rougarou roller coaster will be a one-of-a-kind ride for the Sandusky park.

If Wednesday’s arrival of the media invitation for the revamped coaster is any indication — the park is about to make good on its promise.

When you open the Rougarou-themed cookie tin — a werewolf growls and howls.

Park general manager Jason McClure has said the park plans to experiment with special effects for the first time on the outdoor coaster.

McClure said earlier this spring the park wants to incorporate its lagoons off the midway to set the scene for the legendary Rougarou creature that is said to have lurked in Louisiana swamps.

Park officials have said the floorless coaster will have different effects for daytime and nightime riders.

The new coaster will open to high bidders May 8 to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Those rides will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

Season passholders can ride “select rides” including the Rougarou from 7 to 10 p.m. that same night.

The first public rides will be May 9 when the park officially kicks off its 2015 season.
