The Reverend

Yep, the insurgents are gonna go there....

Nearly one-third of the Republicans in the House of Representatives signed a letter calling on party leaders to ensure that a must-pass spending bill block any use of federal funding to resettle refugees from Syria and nearby countries, the bill's sponsor said on Tuesday.

Seventy-four of the 246 House Republicans signed the letter, which was circulated by Republican Representative Brian Babin.

New Speaker.....same House. Paul Ryan was the only person in the entire cosmos who could "lead" the GOP insurgents in the House that Tea built. In the next two weeks we'll see how that "leadership" plays out. Congress must pass an omnibus spending bill by December 11th to avoid...yes...another GOP-inspired government shutdown.

Previously, Obamacare and Planned Parenthood threatened the very fabric of the nation....so much so that repealing or defunding them became Job One for House radicals. After those failed attempts to shut down the government they hate, House Republicans needed a new very scary shiny object to obsess over and use as a lever to try to...shut the federal government down.

That's where the Syrian refugee scaremongering comes in. Already, 79 House GOP'ers are urging the rookie House Speaker to include within the omnibus spending bill a provision to block funding to resettle Syrian refugees inside the U.S. Should the Lone Superhero, Paul Ryan, refuse to go along with these House insurgents, then Ryan's Speakership will be in danger. With 79 House Republicans already threatening to vote against a "clean" omnibus, Ryan, like Boehner before him, will have to resort to House Democratic votes to prevent a government shutdown. It's deja-vu all over again.

Anyway, that's what's coming next. Should be fun.

On the Syrian refugee freakout, I have a few more thoughts to share. French President Hollande has been praised by conservatives in the U.S. because he said the things the weak and peevish President Obama refused to say, "we're at war". Hollande immediately responded to the Paris attacks by ordering a few airstrikes over Syria as a symbol of revenge....the kind of symbolic revenge U.S. conservatives wanted to see from petulant Barack.

And yet....and I can't get over this one....Hollande, whom U.S. conservatives praised for his properly-outraged. mostly symbolic, words of anger and revenge....also announced that his country would take in even more Syrian refugees than he had previously announced...30,000 instead of 24,000.

Here in the U.S., Obama is sticking to his 10,000 Syrian refugee number....and the U.S. Congress is threatening to shut the entire federal government down to prevent even one Syrian refugee from entering the Homeland.

Again, the country that actually experienced an ISIS-inspired attack, France, is refusing to give in to refugee hysteria...while inside the world's lone superpower, where the attack did not happen, House radicals insist that Americans should succumb to refugee hysteria or their government will be shut down.

There is no rational explanation for this...other than....House Republicans making another ugly spectacle out of their hatred of Obama.

And that is where, I think, the real coming attractions enter. The GOP, as you know, will continue to find it difficult to win the presidency. Demographics and the electoral college map will continue to give the advantage to Democrats. Republicans are often pricks, but they aren't entirely clueless.....they know their chances at the Oval Office are not good in the near term, and worse when projected out into the future.

So, full-metal-jacketed obstruction of the presidency, continual government shutdown threats, repetitive Clown "investigations", the hystericalization of anything, and a genuine do-nothing Congress....is the only way forward for neo-confederate Republicans. It's a defensive strategy that, yes, does harm to the nation,....but in the minds of the neo-confederates, is the only way to "save" the country.

So, if you think Republicans and the hystericalized mob of voters who support them have been exceptionally hard on Obama....just wait until Hillary is sworn in. The Obama presidency will seem like a Republican-Democratic lovefest compared to what the enemies of democracy have in store for the HildaBeast.

Our country has been in the midst of a bloodless civil war for a number of years now. A minority of anti-democratic conservatives have learned that if they can't win the presidency, they can at least prevent the federal government from functioning while they point to a Democratic president as the reason why it isn't.

The fact is that no one can unite conservatives and not-conservatives. I do not believe it can be done.....by any president. The reason seems clear.....conservatives do not want anything to do with a country that they, alone, do not control.
