The Energy Policy Forum suggests that Range Resources could be on the brink of a downward financial spiral, like Chesapeake Energy Corp.


Range Resources has divested itself of holdings in the Barnett shale in Texas in favor of the Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania.


Nearly 80 percent of its assets are invested in natural gas and the price for that gas has declined sharply, the EPF says.
