The Reverend

Baghdad Bob Spicer today...

"...at some point, the facts are what they are. And every single person who has been briefed on this situation with respect to the situation with Russia — Republican, Democrat, Obama appointee, career [employees] — have all come to the same conclusion. At some point, April, you’re going to have to take no for an answer with respect to whether or not there was collusion.”

I wonder if Democratic ranking member, Adam Schiff, qualifies as an "every single person briefed"....

“I can tell you that the case is more than that. And I can’t go into the particulars, but there is more than circumstantial evidence now. … I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and is very much worthy of investigation.”

Meanwhile,....building on this morning's post....WAPO is reporting this today..

The Trump administration sought to block former acting attorney general Sally Yates from testifying to Congress in the House investigation of links between Russian officials and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, The Washington Post has learned,...

According to letters The Post reviewed, the Justice Department notified Yates earlier this month that the administration considers a great deal of her possible testimony to be barred from discussion in a congressional hearing because the topics are covered by the presidential communication privilege.

However, in a letter back, Sally Yates' attorney wrote...

...any claim of privilege “has been waived as a result of the multiple public comments of current senior White House officials describing the January 2017 communications. Nevertheless, I am advising the White House of Ms. Yates’ intention to provide information.’’

That would seem obvious, given that a whole lot of Trump administration people have made public statements about the same "communications" Yates was prepared to offer non-classified information about to the House Intel Committee. Yates has first-hand information...she was the one who briefed Trump's White House counsel, Don McGhan, on January 26th about Mike Flynn's lies.

Here's the real reason Trump stopped Yates from publicly answering questions, and why Nunes "postponed" today's scheduled hearing....

Yates and another witness at the planned hearing, former CIA director John Brennan, had made clear to government officials by Thursday that their testimony to the committee probably would contradict some statements that White House officials had made,...

Oh, my. Not more "contradicted" "statements" from "White House officials"....why, it's as if White House officials have problems telling the truth.

White House officials, and Trumpublicans, have been fostering the totally insane narrative that some conspiracy theorized "deep state" still being directed by Barack Obama...has been spying on Donald and his goons. Comey and Rogers blew that bullshite up last Monday. Those agency heads, what's the word,...."contradicted" that Trumpublican bullshite, causing clear and present damage to Trumper credibility...and the galactically stupid "deep state" conspiracy theorists.

Brennan and, especially Yates, posed an even greater threat to the Trumpsters and the fake news saturated crowd seeking to cover for possible White House felons. That was simply a door Trump didn't want to allow to be opened....and so, Devin Nunes, a Trump butt-boy if there ever was one, took off last Tuesday on what would prove to be a very event-filled week....ending with the cancellation of today's scheduled hearing last Friday.

I'm old enough to have watched the preliminary Nixon-impeachment hearings....which compelled Tricky to finally resign. John Dean. like me, was much younger then, but I still remember his explosive and devastating testimony These Trumpsters, I'm tellin ya, are making some fatal mistakes in doing what they're doing. Trying to stop Yates, Brennan and Clapper from answering questions publicly...because their answers might "contradict" what Trumpers have said.....only makes the American people who are paying attention believe more that Trump and CO. are guilty of something and are trying to cover it up.

We're now in the day by day....drip, drip, drip....phase where the developing picture is being slowly filled in. This is not going to go well for the Donald and his administration team. And something I forgot to include this morning is going to make it even worse for these clowns.

I check regularly at the conservative-leaning Real Clear Politics site to keep up with polls. RCP lists 3 national polls on the site every day....Rasmussen, Gallup and Quinnipiac. They are all daily tracking polls. Rasmussen, which might as well be run by Limbaugh and Hannity, has Trump's approval rating at 45%. Quinnipiac has Trump's approval rating at 37% and Gallup has it at 36%.

The target number for Republicans to give up on Trump,....well, my target number....is between 30-35%. We're getting closer. Point being that with approval numbers declining like Trump's are....now is not the time to raise more doubts in the minds of Americans by trying to prevent those who have first hand information from sharing that info publicly. It just paints a cover-up picture in the minds of the public....that's what it does.

But Donald claims he's a "very smart person" with a stratospheric IQ. Do you know which Republican president had the highest IQ? Richard Nixon.
