Warmongering malcontents in the U.S. Senate brought their bag of poison pills to the floor of the U.S. Senate yesterday in the hope that they could, politically, date-rape and leave for dead the Obama administration's tentative nuclear deal with Iran.
First to attempt to slip some poison into the Iran deal punchbowl was Wyoming GOP Senator John Barrasso...
The amendment would have required certification that Iran has not directly supported or carried out an act of terrorism against the U.S. or a U.S. person, anywhere in the world.
Eight GOP senators joined with all the Democrats and Independents to keep that poison out of the deal.
Barrasso's failed effort to poison the Iranian deal followed a Tuesday poisoning attempt by the ludicrous GOP Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson....
On Tuesday, the Senate voted down another amendment to the Corker bill, which sought to give an Iran nuclear agreement international treaty status. The proposal by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) failed by 39 votes to 57, with 12 Republicans voting against it.
Next will come two poison pill amendments from Pander-Boy, Senator Marco Rubio. Boy-Marco is not above humiliating himself to win over all those free-speech millions promised to the 2016 GOP presidential candidate from Jewish casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. And to prove how much Boy-Marco wants to win the "Adelson primary", the greenhorn senator will bring these poison pills to the Senate punchbowl....
1)Requiring Iran publicly to recognize Israelís right to exist.
2)Barring sanctions relief until Iran has carried out the specific terms of an agreement. (Iran insists that sanctions be lifted immediately the final deal is signed.)
Passing either of Rubio's amendments will nix the deal with the Iranians. I think It's the recognition-of-Israel poison that has the best chance of polluting, and ending, the Obama' administration's efforts. But, we'll see.
However, it just wouldn't be prudent of me to not share the latest from Iranian pen-pal and Goober Extraordinaire, GOP Senator Tom Cotton. Fancying himself as the 2nd coming of Dick Cheney, Cotton didn't, you know, cotton to what Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif said yesterday.....
"I believe the United States will risk isolating itself in the world if there is an agreement [and] it decides to break it," Zarif said. "I don't think anybody will find that decision by the United States acceptable."
"I think the United States, whether you will have a Democratic president or whether you have a Republican president, is bound by international law .... and international law requires the United States to live up by the terms of an agreement," Zarif said.
"You know that, maybe Sen. Cotton doesn't, but you know that 90% of US overseas agreements are executive agreements."
As you can imagine, Goober-Boy, the serious-minded, responsible, adult that he is, didn't take those comments calmly. He took to his Goober-Tweeter device, issuing four Tweets in rapid succession....
5:07PM....Hey @JZarif, I hear you called me out today. If youíre so confident, letís debate the Constitution.
5:08PM....Hereís offer: meet in DC, @JZarif, time of your choosing to debate Iranís record of tyranny, treachery, & terror.
5:09PM....I understand if you decline @JZarif after all, in your 20s, you hid in US during Iran-Iraq war while peasants & kids were marched to die
5:11PM....Not badge of courage @JZarif, to hide in US while your country fought war to survive-but shows cowardly character still on display today
This morning, Zarif responded to Cotton's childishness....
"Serious diplomacy, not macho personal smear, is what we need. Congrats on Ur new born. May U and Ur family enjoy him in peace ."
Because Tom Cotton hasn't realized yet that sensitive negotiations with Iran over nuclear capabilities is not all about him, the Goober-Boy will, most likely, take that last Tweet as a threat to him and his family.....but that's what inexperienced, unqualified, unhinged, warmongering GOP Goober Senators would think, isn't it?
it does appear that Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair, Republican Bob Corker, is working hard to prevent a bipartisan congressional bill allowing Congress to weigh in on any final Iranian deal from being blown up by fellow Goobers and Adelson ass-kissers. But it's still too early to know.
Finally....to fully appreciate just how lost and out of touch with reality the GOP is today, behold this gem.....
....some influential Republicans are shining the vice presidential spotlight on Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, suggesting he would be the perfect running mate for candidates like Scott Walker or Jeb Bush.
Just what the GOP 2016 ticket needs.....a childish, thin-skinned, unprofessional, fly-off-the-handle, warmongering Goober-Boy as their VP candidate.
