The National Hamburger Festival decided to shake things up a little last year by offering a craft beer tasting.

The concept went over so well that organizers are bringing it back and are looking to expand the craft beer experience this year. There's even talk about a burger-beer pairing program.

The National Hamburger Festival is set for Aug. 13-14 at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron.

"We know that we'll have up to 10, probably more, Ohio-based breweries there," festival spokeswoman Lexi Hotchkiss said. "It will be Ohio brewers. We want to keep it as local as possible."

Organizers are still working through the details, including identifying the participating breweries. Hotchkiss said more information should be available at the end of June.

The event, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015, attracted more than 20,000 people last year. It includes everything from a hamburger eating contest to a bobbing for burgers competition to a Miss Hamburger Queen Pageant and Baby Burger Pageant.

People pay $5 to enter the festival, and then pay separately for burgers and beverages, including the beer.
