The Reverend

President Trump on Tuesday signed a wide-ranging executive order to start the process of rolling back former President Obama’s aggressive climate change agenda, promising that the measure would create jobs in the fossil fuel industry.

"My action today is the latest in a series of steps to create American jobs and to grow American wealth. We're ending the theft of American prosperity and rebuilding our beloved country," he said before signing the order.

Robert Murray, founder and chief executive of Murray Energy, the largest privately held coalminer in the US.....“I suggested that he temper his expectations. Those are my exact words,” said Murray. “He can’t bring them back.”

Between January 2015 and January 2017, some 34.75 gigawatts of coal-fired capacity—about 11 percent of the total—was shut down. Yes, increased regulation is a factor. But coal has lost most of its market share to a cheaper, cleaner-burning, domestic fossil fuel: natural gas. In 2016, for the first time, natural gas accounted for more electricity production than coal. No executive order will affect the appeal of natural gas.

Current, and future, prices of natural gas will make it virtually impossible for the electricity generation industry to revert back to choosing coal as their fuel-of-choice. Robert Murray understands that reality. Donald Trump does not care about reality....he creates his own.

Trump's executive action yesterday has nothing to do with market forces, or job creation or growing "American wealth". Yesterday's action by Trump was only about keeping his rager-base voters pumping their fists into the air screaming...Trump, Trump, Trump. Politically, Trump's move is understandable. His approval ratings are in the high 30's...so he can't afford to lose many more supporters before the rest of the GOP bails on his ass.

Nothing invigorates Trump supporters more than putting it to those goddamn liberals. Liberals, with their briefcases of scientific research, energy-market research, global climate change scientific findings...and all those damn numbers and charts that go along with all of it. In the fantasyland where the Trumpers live, liberals have worked very hard over the last few decades to destroy the fossil fuel industry because they hate America and want to see it punished....I guess, through citizens having to pay higher prices for energy. I've never quite understood the narrative, but in the fever swamps of hate-media THAT is the narrative heard most every day.

Man's contribution to global climate change is a "hoax", new coal jobs are coming back, and liberals who argue otherwise hate America. It's all fantasy.....and yet, that's what millions of misled Americans believe...and why so many of those misled Americans punched Donald's ticket last November.

Thus, the political photo-op stunt yesterday where Donald had coal miners up on the stage as props for his fake-news presidential announcement. It was like seeing an early 20th century president boasting about bringing buggy-whip-maker jobs back again. The most often Google searched word during last year's campaign was "surreal". Yesterday's untouched-by-reality political stunt qualifies as being surreal.

Trump knows, or should know, that unraveling climate change policy will take years and years of litigation in the courts. He knows that even Robert Murray, coal miner extraordinaire, doesn't believe coal mining jobs are coming back. Trump doesn't care about any of that. He successfully fooled enough Americans to make himself the president....and that is still his plan moving forward as the president.

So, when you strip away the fake news and political stunt-props parts of yesterday's Trump EO.....all you are left with is hatred of liberals as the driving force behind the EO. Hatred of liberals, and liberal policies, is what motivates at least a third of the electorate now.

Everything we've seen from Donald has been based on a fake reality. From his "American carnage" fantasy, to his "danger ban" nonsense, to his characterization of the ACA as being in a "death spiral", to his ridiculous claim that he's bringing coal miner jobs back.....all of it is based on a fake reality, a reality that doesn't exist. Ours is a president who pretends he lives in a country that doesn't exist.

What explains this reliance on a fake reality? What can possibly explain why Donald pretends he lives in a country that doesn't actually exist? Revenge against liberals and their liberal policies. In their blind rage to put it to those smartass liberals, Trump and his most devoted supporters embrace a totally phony version of reality...and pretend that the real country we all live in doesn't exist.

In the near future, when grand juries are convened and Articles of Impeachment are introduced.....I wonder if it will be real. I wonder whether or not a plea-cop by Mike Flynn will be real. I also wonder if Trump associates serving time in federal prison will be real..or just fantasy.
