The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued 457 permits to drill in the Utica shale through Nov. 24.



The new permits are  two in Harrison County and three in Noble County, according to the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management.



To date, 187 wells have been drilled, 45 of which are in production.



A total of 29 drilling rigs are working in Ohio, up one from the previous weekly state report.



Carroll County is No. 1 in Ohio with 159 permits.



Other totals are Columbiana, 66; Harrison, 58; Jefferson, 31; Guernsey, 24; Monroe, 20; Noble, 17; Mahoning, 15; Portage, 14; Stark, 13; Tuscarawas, 12; and Belmont, 11.
