Pennsylvania-based Rex Energy Corp. announced this week that it has completed drilling its first Utica shale well in Ohio's Carroll County.
It reported that the well was drilled to a depth of 12,332 feet with a lateral length of 4,170 feet.
The well is slated to be hydraulically fractured or fracked in June.
The rig has been moved to western Pennsylvania where it is scheduled to drill a Utica well in Lawrence County.
In related news, Rex Energy announced that its Bluestone cryogenic processing plant in Pennsylvania's Butler County has gone online and will begin selling natural gas by June 1.
The company also announced that it has closed on a previously announced deal to sell its subsidiary Keystone Midstream to MarkWest Energy for $512 million.
