Boston Beer Co. will release a new seasonal brew, Samuel Adams Cold Snap, in January. The Belgian-style white ale features Grains of Paradise, anise, hibiscus, orange peel, coriander and dried plums.

The beer, which is 5.3 percent alcohol by volume, will be available through mid-March in six-packs, 12-packs and on draft.

"As brewers, we try to brew seasonal beers to capture the essence of each season," founder Jim Koch said in a news release. "Fall, winter and summer are distinct seasons and it's been easier to recognize beer styles that complement seasonal palates and menus for those times of year. But spring has always posed a unique challenge -- we're in limbo, waiting for winter to be over and for summer to arrive.

"For us, Cold Snap, a  Belgian-style white ale, captures this moment with its blend of crisp wheat, bright flavors and the subtle snap of 10 fruits, flowers and spices."
