The energy infrastructure in the United States needs to be updated so that the shale boom doesn't fail, argues the Via Media blog at The American Interest.
Via Meadia writes: "Our refineries canít handle the high-quality shale oil now being produced in the United States, propping up demand for foreign oil despite abundance at home. And even if we had better refineries, we donít have enough pipelines running from the Midwest, where much of this shale oil is coming from.
"Our country needs smart energy policy to ensure that†the shale boom doesnít go bust. Our current infrastructure badly needs to be modernized to ensure we can make the most of our new abundance."
