The Akron Marathon has arranged for Blue Line Beginners to have a booth at the Health and Fitness Expo at the John S Knight Center on Friday, Sept. 22 - the day before the race. It's a great opportunity for us to share our personal stories and achievements with the running community and help spread the word that we're here to stay!

The booth needs to be staffed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and so far we've had the following volunteers:

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Bob Gill, Karen Jackson, Jennifer Kline, Lynn Kline

1 to 3 p.m. - Bob Gill, Mary Jo Jones, Penny Spickard and Jim Merklin

3 to 5 p.m. - Kris Kienzl, Deanna Albertson and Abby Gentsch

5 to 7 p.m. - Kathy Scott and Patricia Harper

7 to 9 p.m. -- Marcia Linberger and Elizabeth Kinsella

We can use one or two more people for the later shifts if anyone has an interest.

I'm creating some displays using Karen's photographs and the Beacon Journal stories about our 8k and 10k. The Beacon is putting together a basket for us to offer in a drawing. I'll also see if our graphic artists can come up with some kind of flyer that we can pass out.

If you have any other ideas for our booth or the message we should be sharing, feel free to drop me a note at akronrun@theakronbeaconjournal.com.

The blue circle is where our booth will be:

Meanwhile, the Expo is also our packet pickup location, with activities, speakers, a pasta party and other events you may want to take advantage of. I'll post a blog about all of those details soon!
