UPDATE: I gave you the wrong address for where to send your checks. I must have been on autopilot when I typed it in - it was my childhood home! I have updated the story below with the proper address. In the meantime, I'm off to visit the nice people there now to see if I can have those checks collected. BUT if your check comes back to you, please resend to Paula Schleis, 706 Wisteria Drive, Barberton OH 44203. I will also email each of you as I receive your checks so you know when they arrive safely. My apologies for any inconvenience!

The Blue Line Beginners have their own tech shirt in time for the Akron Marathon final race in September, and we've got two people to thank for making it happen quickly.

Akron Beacon Journal artist Rick Steinhauser created the fun design, which features a running shoe with shoelaces that weave into the shape of the Akron Marathon race course. The shirt hasn't been made yet so I can't show you the finished product, but you can see the graphic with this post. It will be white on a brilliant blue tech shirt.

Big thanks also to Tammy Polen of Vertical Runner, who is working with a printer on our behalf to get the shirts made at a great price - just $10 each!
But we have to move fast so we can get the shirts a week before the Sept. 23 race in time to wash and wear them. So here's what I need you to do:

** I need your order no later than 5 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 1. You can send me your order by email at akronrun@thebeaconjournal.com, or message me on the BLB Facebook page. You can order shirts for friends, family and other BLB supporters. To keep things simple, there will only be the men's style available, and up to size 2x.

** I need you to pay for your shirts by check, made out to Vertical Runner. Put the sizes you are ordering in the memo of your check so we have extra confirmation of what you are getting. There are three ways to get me your money:

1) Bring your check to Saturday's group outing at 8 a.m.
2) Drop your check off at the Akron Beacon Journal by this Friday. Put it in an envelope with my name and leave it with the security guard just inside the door at 44 E. Exchange St.
3) Mail me a check. Send to Paula Schleis, 706 Wisteria Drive, Barberton OH 44203 -- but be sure to make the check out to Vertical Runner!

I'll pass out the shirts at our Sept. 16 group outing so you have a week to try them out before the race. If you don't make it to that Saturday run, I will have them at the Beacon Journal throughout the week for you to pick up. (Or if more convenient for you, you can pick them up at my home. Just let me know.)
