From Karen Schiely, our BLB photographer:
My friend Bruce Ford shot this awesome photo of me with my photo gear at the finish line of the Goodyear 10K. Seriously, I never look this happy. I credit not only the endorphins from the exercise and the chocolate milk at the finish but also from my cheering for the Blue Line Beginners who came in after me. A second accomplishment in the books (as if just getting out of bed at 3:30am wasn’t enough of one.) We should all be freakin’ ecstatic! I’ll need to ride on this motivation to train as I double the distance for the half marathon next month.
I have to admit the morning did not start off well when I dropped the water bottle that I was going to carry with me on the port-o-potty floor. That went straight to recycle. I then was prepared to get into a throw down with a woman who was oblivious to the hundreds of people standing in lines as she nearly walked into the port-o-potty I had been waiting on for about five minutes. The announcer was calling 15 minutes to the start of the race. Yeah. I don’t think so line cutter! I wanted to say “Hey, wait your turn,” but all I could get out was, “Hey!” I really had to go.
Thankfully, I soon ran off all of the stress and disagreeableness and wasn’t it awesome to have the opportunity to run on that track. I even came across friends I haven’t seen for awhile. It was a good day, and I’m looking forward to our group run/walks as we train for the September race.
