Hard to believe it's just six weeks to the First Energy Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay. While we are basking in the glow of our second race, we need to stay on track for the third and final event of the Akron Marathon Race Series.

This Saturday at 8 a.m., we'll meet at the Wilbeth Road trailhead in Akron. Use the address 384 W. Wilbeth Road. I've included a map, as well as a satellite map showing primary and secondary parking in yellow.

We will have a guest speaker, Katie Riley of the Akron Marathon, who will explain how to use your September race to raise money for a favorite charity. Katie will start at 8 a.m. and we'll run/walk immediately after.

I won't be there, but Anne Bitong will and she's offered to set up a water station to the south of that trailhead. If you head south from the Wilbeth trailhead (that's left out of the parking lot) it is 1.7 miles to Manchester Road and another 2.6 miles to Fairview Avenue in Barberton. That means Wilbeth to Fairview and back is an 8.6 mile round trip. It's a very lovely trail, but please note that this is very flat topography. I'm not doing us any favors here; try to find some good hills for your weekday routine or you will be ill-prepared for the June 23 race!

Half Marathon trainees will be running/walking 9 miles Saturday. This is your weekly training plan:

3 miles / rest / 4 miles / 3 miles / rest / 9 miles (Sat) / crosstrain - For a total of 19 miles this week

Relay Team members will be doing 3 miles Saturday. This is your weekly training plan:

15-20 minutes / walk or crosstrain / 15-20 minutes / 3 miles (Sat) / rest - For a total of 5-6 miles this week

And here is the rest of the Relay Team Training Plan leading up to the September race...
