The Akron Beacon Journal's website, Ohio.com, has been inviting area residents to show off their camera skills with a different topic each month, and the current challenge is something near and dear to our hearts: The Akron Marathon, and all the training that goes into it.

You might already have what you need for this photo contest from a group run or even that 8k or 10k event earlier in the year. Or you or a loved one can submit something from the Sept. 23 event.

Here are the details from Ohio.com:

"On your mark. Get set. Go!

The Akron Marathon is racing toward us and we want to see how you’re getting ready to tackle the blue line.

The next theme for the Focus On… challenge, we are looking for your running photos. Maybe you’ve been training by hitting the trails or the treadmill. Or perhaps you’ve participated in the Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series. Or maybe you are a member of Beacon Journal reporter Paula Schleis’ Blue Line Beginners group.

Share your photos from training, the race series, or from the main event and we’ll feature it in an upcoming gallery here on https://www.ohio.com/akron/multimedia/photo-galleries. Like last month, there are several ways to share your images.

The easiest way is to post your photos on Instagram or Twitter and include #abj_marathon. You can also email them to digital@thebeaconjournal.com Make sure to include your name, and whom the picture is of, in your email.

Send us those photos by noon on Sept. 26 and you’ll be eligible to win a pair of movie tickets. Whether it’s a selfie after a quick run around the neighborhood, a picture of your hard-earned race medal or everything in between, we can’t wait to see what you choose to focus on."

And yes, it's Tuesday, so today's post should be Karen's Korner, but we're giving our intrepid Beacon Journal Photographer and Akron Half Marathon trainee Karen Schiely the day off while she pampers her sore knees from Saturday's trial run.

In the meantime, she took a moment to dress up her pup "Betsy Blue Eyes" and snap this picture!
