The Browns used the 22nd overall pick in the NFL Draft tonight to select Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden.

Weeden played minor league baseball for five seasons before pursuing his collegiate football career. He’ll be 29 on Oct. 14.

Weeden started the past two seasons for Oklahoma State. Last season, he completed 327-of-531 passes (61.6 percent) for 3,744 yards and 29 touchdowns with 15 interceptions.

The Browns have said they were willing to move forward with Colt McCoy as their starting quarterback, but they never ruled out drafting a quarterback with one of their first three picks.

Last week in his pre-draft news conference, Browns General Manager Tom Heckert said if he were to select a quarterback in the first round, he would expect him to start as a rookie.
