Cincinnati defensive tackle John Hughes, whom the Browns picked 87th overall Friday night, spoke with reporters during a conference call. Here is a transcript:

(On describing himself as a player) – “I feel like I’m more of a run guy. I use my hands well to get off blocks and I feel that is my strong suit as a player.”

(On if the Browns were in contact with him) – “Yes, I have been in contact with them the past couple weeks. They were actually the first team I visited during this whole process.”

(On where he thought he would get drafted) – “I really had no idea. I think no one really has a good idea of where they are going, but I thought the Browns for sure, the Saints and maybe the Bears. There were a lot of teams out there.”

(On what round he thought he would get drafted) – “Honestly, I invited all of my family to come over tomorrow morning to watch the draft, so I was thinking more fourth round.”

(On if he pays attention to the draft books and scouting reports about him) – “I do, kind of, but I don’t really let that affect me.”

(On if he will still have a party tomorrow morning) – “My family is still going to come over. We are going to have a cookout or something and celebrate.”

(On what he feels he can add to the team) – “I think I can be a great addition to the team. Anyway I can help the team, anyway they ask me to help them, and I will be more than happy too. I feel like I can be a nice addition to the defensive line.”
