Miami wide receiver Travis Benjamin, whom the Browns drafted 100th overall, conducted a conference call with reporters this afternoon. Here is a transcript:

(On utilizing his speed)– “I know my speed and my agility will help me get open on a defender. Because I am so quick and elusive I can run past any defender on the field.”

(On his weight and concern about his slender frame)– “My weight is 175. That has nothing to do with it because I have been playing at the University of Miami and week in and week out we played top competition every week in the ACC, SEC and all around. I am used to getting hit.”

(On his fastest 40 time)– “My fastest 40 time ever clocked was at a 4.26.”

(On if he could be a kick returner)– “Yes, kick returner, punter returner, anywhere they need me, I will be willing to do it.”

(On what NFL players he sees himself like)– “Steve Smith, Devin Hester.”

(On what he got his degree in)– “Sports administration with a minor in education.”

(On if he knew the Browns were targeting him and when he thought he would be picked)– “They were talking to me a lot over the time period of the job process, but I didn’t think it would be this early.”

(On when he ran his 4.26 40-yard dash)– “I ran it in the summer time going into my junior year.”

(On if he thought he was a first round talent but didn’t have the size)– “I didn’t think I was a first round talent. It’s not my tussle, I can be pick at. Talking to the teams day in and day out they said that they would take me in the fourth, fifth, sixth round, but I never thought when Cleveland was up that they would pick me.”
