Aeros 3, Curve 2

Key situation: Aeros third baseman Giovanny Urshela broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the eighth and Aeros reliever Trey Haley allowed a double and two walks to load the bases with two outs in the ninth inning. But catcher Jake Lowery helped the Aeros halt a three-game skid when he stepped on home plate for a game-ending force on a dribbler in front of the plate.

Quick hits: Curve starter and top Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Jameson Taillon gave up two runs on seven hits in seven innings. Rehabbing Indians right-handers Blake Wood and Brett Myers each pitched an inning in relief. Wood (elbow surgery) gave up two hits and an unearned run and Myers (elbow sprain) walked one, struck out one and earned the win.

Next game: A doubleheader (seven-inning games) is scheduled at 5:35 p.m. today. In the first game, Aeros left-hander Matt Packer (5-5, 2.64 ERA) and Curve right-hander David Bromberg (3-7, 3.14 ERA) are the scheduled pitchers. The Aeros have not named a starter and Curve right-hander Ethan Hollingsworth (4-3, 3.47 ERA) is scheduled to pitch in the second game.
