SeaWolves 4, Aeros 3

The host Akron Aeros (29-19) split a doubleheader with Erie (25-24) Monday afternoon, taking the first game 4-0 and dropping the second 4-3. Sunday’s game was rained out.

Akron led every inning in each of the two seven-inning games until the bottom of the seventh in the latter game, when Loek Van Mil entered with a 3-2 lead but gave up a triple, a single and a sacrifice fly that allowed the tying and winning runs to score. Paolo Espino threw five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Starter Steven Wright, Kyle Landis, Rob Bryson and Preston Guilmet combined to shut out Erie in the first game. Adam Abraham drove in the winning run with a double to center field that scored Kyle Bellows. Chun Chen then drove in Abraham with a double to right field.
