Jose Ramirezís solo home run in the top of the seventh inning broke a 5-5 tie and was the game winner as the Aeros defeated the host Mets 7-5 on Sunday afternoon. Ramirez, whose home run was the first of his AA career, was one of four Aeros to homer in the game.
Akron (10-13) had seven extra-base hits on the day as Jesus Aguilar, Carlos Moncrief, and Quincy Latimore all joined Ramirez with home runs. Latimore and Chun Chen added doubles, and Tyler Holt tripled.
The Aeros took a 5-1 lead in the sixth inning when Holt led off with a triple and Aguilar brought him home with his second home run of the season. One pitch later, Moncrief blasted what is also his second homer.
Binghamton (12-11) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie it, before Ramirez broke the deadlock in the seventh. Latimore homered in the eighth to give the Aeros an insurance run before Bryce Stowell came on to earn his first save.
Akronís bullpen performed well, surrendering just three hits, one run and striking out nine in four innings. Kyle Landis earned his first win of the year, and Bryan Price was credited with a hold.
