Aeros 4, Curve 1
A three-run last-inning rally off top prospect Gerrit Cole led the Aeros (78-56) to a victory in the first seven-inning game of their doubleheader against the host Curve (65-69).
Tied 1-1 heading into the top of the seventh, the Aeros loaded the bases with a bloop single, a bunt single and a walk after a leadoff strikeout. A throwing error by Curve third baseman Stefan Welch on a ball hit by left-fielder Thomas Neal broke the tie, allowing two runs to score. Designated hitter Chun-Hsiu Chen then added an insurance run in the next at-bat with a sacrifice fly.
Starter Danny Salazar earned the win for the Aeros, improving his record to a perfect 4-0. He struck out five, walked two and allowed only one run in his six innings of work.
Preston Guilmet shut the door for the Aeros, earning his 23rd save of the season.
Pacing the Aeros at the plate was leadoff hitter and right fielder Jordan Henry, going 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.
