Baysox 3, RubberDucks 1

A throwing error and a wild pitch were too much to handle as the RubberDucks lost 3-1 in their first of two seven-inning games Wednesday at Bowie, Md.

Bowie got on the board in the second inning on a wild pitch from Akron starter Will Roberts.

With the score tied 1-1 and one out in the sixth inning, Bowie’s Ronald Bermudez laid down a sacrifice bunt and Akron catcher Alex Lavisky threw the ball away. The go-ahead run scored. Two batters later, the Baysox (29-22) tacked on an insurance run.

Roberts threw 5? innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and three walks, striking out two.

The RubberDucks (31-20) mustered just three hits against Bowie starter Eduardo Rodriguez. Francisco Lindor led the way, reaching base twice on a single and a walk.

The Ducks’ lone run came in the top of the sixth inning when Bryan LaHair grounded out to second base with the bases loaded, scoring Joe Wendle.
