TEMPE, ARIZ.: The Arizona Cardinals have placed running back Beanie Wells on the NFLís new injured reserve/designated for return list, meaning he wonít be able to play in a game until Nov. 25.
Wells injured his toe in the 27-6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The new list requires Wells of Garfield High School and Ohio State to stay out of practice until Nov. 7 and prohibits him from playing in a game until the Cardinals are home against the St. Louis Rams on Nov. 25.
With the injury, the bulk of the Arizona running game will be handled by second-year pro Ryan Williams, who rushed for 83 yards in 13 carries against Philadelphia.
In a corresponding move, the Cardinals re-signed running back Alfonso Smith.
