Browns coach Mike Pettine will be the guest speaker and All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon and All-Pro offensive left tackle Joe Thomas will be honored at the 35th annual Akron Browns Backers banquet May 19 at Tangier restaurant, 532 W. Market St., Akron.

Several Browns alumni are planning to attend, including former coach Sam Rutigliano, Dick Ambrose, Ernie Kellermann, Frank Stams and Tom Cousineau. News Channel 5 sports director and 92.3 The Fan radio host Andy Baskin is scheduled to serve as master of ceremonies.

Current Browns player John Hughes, hall of famer Dave Robinson and others to be announced are also expected to attend.

The local chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America will honor Gordon as the 2013 player of the year and Thomas as the 2013 Dino Lucarelli Good Guy Award winner.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for a fan fest. A VIP cocktail party starts at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets for dinner are $60. Tickets for the VIP cocktail party and dinner are $125. Corporate tables are also available.

Proceeds go to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the Victim Assistance Program of Summit County.
