Browns cornerback Denzel Ward was held out of Saturday's rookie minicamp practice as a precaution because of a strained hip flexor.

Ward, the fourth overall pick in this last week's draft, suffered the injury Friday during the first practice of the three-day minicamp and sat out team drills. A Browns spokesman said the issue is not serious.

Ward, a Nordonia High School graduate and Ohio State product, watched Saturday's session from the sideline and provided a comment afterward.

"Itís just precautionary," Ward said through the team's media relations staff. "I wish I was out there with my guys, but the training staff is being smart about it. I felt a little something in my hip yesterday at practice, but I should be back soon."
