The Browns terminated the contract of defensive end Cam Johnson and waived free safety Ed Reynolds with an injury designation, the team announced Tuesday.

Neither Johnson nor Reynolds have played this preseason because of knee injuries.

Johnson returned to practice Monday after missing a few weeks. Reynolds was hurt July 29 during the first padded practice of training camp.

Johnson started nine of the 12 games in which he appeared last season and compiled 29 tackles, including three sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Reynolds, who entered training camp as the first-team free safety, appeared in 10 games last season with seven starts. He tallied 40 tackles and one sack.
