BEREA: The Browns traded down three spots and drafted University of Miami defensive end Chad Thomas in the third round (No. 67 overall) on Friday night.

The Browns shipped the last pick of the second round (No. 64) to the Indianapolis Colts for a third-round selection (No. 67) and a sixth-round choice (No. 178). The Colts then drafted Ohio State defensive end Tyquan Lewis at No. 64, and the Browns took Thomas at No. 67.

Thomas, 6-foot-5 and 281 pounds, started at left end on Miamiís four-man front the past three seasons. He started 33 of the 50 games in which he appeared in his career and compiled 103 tackles, with 26 for loss and 11 sacks, and added two forced fumbles and eight passes defensed.

Browns vice president of player personnel Andrew Berry said Thomas, 22, has the talent to contribute immediately in run defense at left end.
