The Browns have requested permission to interview Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for their head-coaching vacancy, a league source confirmed today.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news this afternoon.
The Browns fired coach Rob Chudzinski Sunday night after just one season on the job. The team went 4-12 and finished the season with a seven-game losing streak and 10 defeats in the last 11 games.
The Seahawks (13-3) finished the regular season with the NFL’s No. 1-ranked defense, allowing 273.6 yards per game.
The Browns also have inquired about interviewing Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase for their head-coaching vacancy, a league source confirmed today. The Broncos (13-3) finished the regular season with the league’s top-ranked offense (457.3 yards per game).
Jim Schwartz, whom the Detroit Lions fired as their head coach today, is also expected to receive interest from the Browns partly because of his long-standing relationship with General Manager Mike Lombardi. And New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, a Canton McKinley High School graduate, is expected to be at the top of the Browns’ list of candidates to replace Chudzinski, according to several reports.
