The Browns have traded with the Minnesota Vikings and moved up to the No. 3 spot in the NFL Draft.
NFL Network reported the Browns gave up three picks -- selections in the fourth (No. 118), fifth (No. 139) and seventh (No. 211) rounds -- to move up one spot, from No. 4 to No. 3.
The Browns confirmed they have moved up to No. 3. They are believed to be targeting Alabama running back Trent Richardson.
"If they do pick me, I'm happy," Richardson said on ESPN. "I can't wait to be there. I can't explain how I feel. When I get that phone call, you're going to see a lot of expression coming from my face."
Last week during his pre-draft news conference, Browns General Manager Tom Heckert said it was "highly unlikely" he would trade up to No. 3. But he also said "never say never."
In 2011, Heckert traded down from No. 6 to No. 27. But this year he pulled off a surprise by moving up. The Browns have another first-round pick (No. 22) as a result of their blockbuster deal last year with the Atlanta Falcons.
The draft begins at 8 tonight. Stay tuned for more information.
